HOW TO MAKE A GHOST - GETTY MISMASHThose ubercool folks at Getty have been running a Music/Video/Remix competition, aptly named mishmash.

Getty called for creatives to take their – getty’s – high res video, stills and music and turn them into something new. Tell a new story, put another spin on it, in a short video of between one and three minutes. The creatives who took part got access to great video from Universal Studios and Warner Brothers Film, as well as quirkier videos from Barcroft Media and our own best collections: one80, iStockFootage and Archive Films. There were no rules about the kind of mishmash creatives could make: a short story, video art or a music video. Read the rest of this entry »

Stylish and sucka free, Danny Brown is a Detroit rapper like no other. His punchline-stuffed 2011 album XXX landed high on many best-of year-end lists and deservedly so. On his new Scion A/V single “Grown Up” Brown reminisces about being a frisky little kid over snappy snares and pulsing piano. “Whoever though I’d be the greatest growing up?” asks Danny. Stranger DaysREPEAT: first posted July 2011! Admission: this tune is making my insides feel funny, in the nicest possible way. About a month ago, someone kicked Fugazi’s awesomely epic – Blueprint – from their amazing album Repeater. When it landed at my feet I wasn’t sure where or when I’d get a chance to play it, but something about Guy Picciotto’s vocals, along with that woe-some backbeat, just seemed like it would rock the headphones right of my skull. Ouch, now that I’ve played it, I seriously regret the time my ears have missed out on this tune!!  Check the Video below:
